Social security number for L2 spouse for Tax Returns?

I have an L2 visa and my wife has an L1 visa. I have no income, and don't plan to work either. My wife needs to file her tax returns jointly with me.





I don't have a social security number because it's too much of a hassle. My wife already has one. Unfortunately all the tax preparation software asks for my SSN as well. Can we file the return without me going through all the inconvenience of getting an SSN?Social security number for L2 spouse for Tax Returns?
